Project 4: Improve workflow, policies, and procedures to increase team efficiency and organisation outcomes
In a way that mirrors the UX design process, I focused on improving team workflows, policies, and procedures to enhance both efficiency and job satisfaction. First, I conducted a thorough review of our existing processes, similar to a discovery phase in UX, where I identified pain points and areas for improvement. I gathered feedback from the team, which acted like user research, allowing me to understand their challenges and frustrations.
Based on this feedback, I iterated on existing workflows, much like prototyping and refining user experiences. I removed unnecessary steps and introduced more efficient workflows that streamlined daily tasks. I also updated policies to make them clearer and more aligned with the team's goals, ensuring they were easy to follow—just as we’d ensure a UX design is intuitive and aligned with user needs.
Additionally, I overhauled our procedures, much like revising an interaction design, incorporating best practices to simplify tasks and reduce errors. One of the most impactful changes I made was introducing 1:1 support sessions, akin to user testing. These sessions provided personalised attention, where I could gather deeper insights into individual challenges and help align personal goals with the team’s broader objectives—similar to how UX designers refine their designs based on user feedback.
As a result, these changes led to smoother operations, much like an improved user interface, and fostered a more supportive, collaborative environment. Just like in UX, where design improvements increase user engagement, these process enhancements empowered the team to work more efficiently and feel more connected to their roles.
